Herculaneum
When the catastrofe of 79 a.D. occured, Herculaneum was submerged under a torrent of mud and lava that hardened into a soft tufa.
Pompeii
The first inhabitant nucleus dates problably from the 8th century b.C.. In the 6th century b.C. the Greeks over-ran the whole Campania.
Capri
For so small an island about 4 miles long and 2 miles wide. There are some spectacular rock formations including the famous Grotta Azzurra (Blu Grotto) and precipitous cliffs around the coast.
Ischia
Born 130,000 hears ago, Ischia is know as the Green island because of its lush green vegetation. It is also the only place in the area with real sandy beaches. It is a volcanic island dominated by Monte Epomeo.
Procida
Procida is the smallest island in the Gulf of Naples, situated between Capo Miseno and Ischia it is a volcanic island an its maximum height is only 91 metres.
